Vienna, Warrenton, and Herndon safety training
VRSA Safety Specialist Edward Shelton and Safety Consultant Christine Gillison were invited by the Towns of Vienna, Warrenton, and Herndon to provide train-the-trainer instruction on trenching and permit-required confined space this fall. As employees are injured every day in these operations, VRSA supports members striving to create a safe and healthy workplace for their employees.
City of Suffolk
The City of Suffolk requested OSHA-10 training on construction from VRSA Safety Specialist Edward Shelton. The training included hazard recognition activities, games, and discussions. Additionally, VRSA Public Safety Specialist Gary Dillon presented on active shooter response.

Protecting your infrastructure from cybersecurity threats
VRSA Director of Education and Training Thomas Bullock provided cybersecurity training to members of the Virginia Rural Water Association on the importance and benefits of understanding the risks involved with cybersecurity. Bullock stressed that by implementing simple in-place controls, entities can protect themselves and their communities.
Public works/utilities employees attend OSHA-10 training
VRSA Safety Specialist Edward Shelton and Safety Consultant Christine Gillison presented OSHA-10 Hour Construction training for public works and public utilities staff from the City of Suffolk and Town of Smithfield. This training is designed to assist employees in identifying and reducing hazards in the workplace.
VRSA Managing Director Marcus Hensel participated in a cybersecurity insurance panel at the Virginia State & Local Government Cybersecurity Partnering Workshop hosted by George Mason University‘s Center for Assurance Research and Engineering (CARE).
Since 2012, VRSA has provided cybersecurity protections to members, including resources and services to help members identify and implement controls to reduce the likelihood and/or impact of an incident.
