Farewell to VRSA’s longtime managing director and board member

This January, VRSA said goodbye to longtime managing director Steve Craig as he retired after more than 30 years of service to the pool.

“It has been my honor and privilege to serve this great organization,” said Craig. “I am proud of the VRSA staff and the caliber of program we are building for members.”

Marcus Hensel, former VRSA deputy director, was named to succeed Craig as managing director.

Before his departure, Craig was celebrated by VRSA managers and directors for his dedication to the pool.

VRSA longtime Members’ Supervisory Board member Clarke Wallcraft also retired from the Peppers Ferry Regional Wastewater Authority after more than 18 years. Wallcraft served on the VRSA Members’ Supervisory Board for more than 15 years, and was honored in October at a retirement celebration at Nesselrod on the New. The event was attended by Craig and Hensel.

“We are thankful for the time and dedication that Wallcraft gave to VRSA over his tenure on the board,” said VRSA Managing Director Marcus Hensel. “His leadership and guidance is a key reason VRSA is as financially strong as it is today.”

Wallcraft has retired to Florida with his family, while Craig continues to reside in Richmond.
