VMLIP's eRisk Hub provides tools to prevent and mitigate data breach losses

Network attacks and privacy violations are occurring with increasing frequency. While the recent Target and Michaels data breaches are impacting millions, in recent years government and educational organizations have been the lead defendants in lawsuits against organizations that fail to protect privacy.

Governmental entities are responsible for data breaches that impact their citizens or customers – no matter whether the breach occurs through an outside vendor or their own networks.

Fortunately, VMLIP members have access to the Cyber Coverage endorsement which expands coverage under the Local Government Liability Policy, providing coverage for privacy liability arising out of lost computer equipment, network security breaches, and human errors. It even covers mistakes made by third party service providers.

The hub also provides resources to assist in the timely reporting and recovery of losses if an incident should occur.

“Even with strong security and privacy controls in place, our members can still find themselves one day facing a data damage, theft or fraud incident, which can be overwhelming and complex” said VMLIP Managing Director Steve Craig. “The eRisk Hub® is designed to provide assistance in multiple areas – from legal and regulatory compliance, to information technology and security, to public relations, and more.”

In fact, the VMLIP eRisk Hub® also provides support for disaster recovery and business continuity, computer forensics, forensic accounting, credit monitoring, and law enforcement.

Members can access the eRisk Hub® online through the VMLIP website.
