VMLIP holds verbal de-escalation training for law enforcement

This February, VML Insurance Programs hosted a verbal de-escalation training for law enforcement officers.

The purpose of the training was to enhance an officer’s verbal and listening skills to de-escalate a situation before it leads to violence. Through open dialogue and guided discussion, attendees addressed the role that implicit and explicit biases play during officer/citizen interactions.

Effective communication is crucial to de-escalating a situation before it turns negative. More of these training sessions will be held in the upcoming months across the state.
