  • Appraisals: We contract for regular property appraisals by independent, licensed contractors. Learn more.
  • Accident Review: Our safety consultants assist in investigations and provide recommendations to prevent or reduce the risk of future accidents.
  • Communications: Members can receive personalized assistance navigating the unique communications challenges of public entities. Learn more.
  • CompCare On-Call: Provides access to a registered nurse 24/7 immediately following a workplace incident to provide immediate medical advice and assistance in their treatment decisions via a toll-free number. Learn more.
  • Contract Review: We provide contract review at no cost to review insurance requirements, ensuring members do not unintentionally waive rights or accept liability on behalf of another.
  • Cybersecurity: Members receive free cyber monitoring as well as a dedicated cyber defense attorney for incident response. They also have access to a security healthcheck application, a sample incident response plan, training & more.
  • Driving: Members are provided defensive and distracted driving training to prevent and reduce automobile losses, the second most frequent type of loss for many public entities.
  • HR Services: Members receive assistance in mitigating employment practices liability exposure. Learn more.

    Local Government Services: Local governments receive assistance in identifying emerging risks and challenges in local government finance, budgeting, compliance, and more from a former town manager with more than 30 years of experience. Learn more.

  • Online Training: Free, unlimited training is available through the VRSA Online University, in addition to engagements held monthly.
  • OSHA: Safety consultants provide OSHA training designed to identify hazards in the workplace and work with members who receive violations.
  • Panel of Physicians: VRSA maintains a valid panel of physicians to assist members in referring injured employees to a physician best qualified to respond to the employee’s needs as quickly as possible. Learn more.
  • Policy Review: Members have access to program and policy review from experienced safety consultants.
  • Public Safety: Law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services members receive assistance in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective risk management programs. Learn more.
  • Return to Work Programs: VRSA staff assist members in creating or implementing a Return-To-Work program, including access to LightDuty Pathway (LDP), an online service providing light duty for workers recovering from an injury. Learn more.
  • Risk Management Grants: Our board allocates funds to help prevent and reduce losses. Funds may be used for professional education as well. Learn more.

  • Site Inspections: Our safety consultants are available to conduct site and security inspections to identify hazards that may cause injuries or property damage, as well as provide recommendations. Learn more.
