OSHA recordkeeping vs. workers’ compensation reporting

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Virginia Workers’ Compensation (VWCC) are two distinctly different agencies; therefore, the reporting and recordkeeping requirements differ. Care should be taken to avoid confusing the two.

Because of these differences, VML Insurance Programs (VMLIP) does not provide our members with what might be considered an OSHA report.

Due to the differences in these two organization’s data collection criteria, VMLIP loss data cannot solely be used for accurately completing an OSHA report. There is often much more to be considered under OSHA recordkeeping requirements than what is reported to the VWCC.
