When filing a Line of Duty Act (LODA) application with the Virginia State Police to initiate a LODA eligibility determination, a copy of the application must be sent to VML Insurance Programs (VMLIP) simultaneously, to establish the claim.
“We are asking that members not wait until an eligibility determination is made to report the LODA claim to VMLIP,” said VMLIP Director of Workers’ Compensation Claims Robin Duvall. “This can create delays in processing invoices – and any penalties resulting from late payments are not covered under the members’ LODA policy.”
VMLIP provides a number of methods for reporting LODA claims:
- Online at: vmlins.org, with the LODA application attached;
- Via e-mail to: newlosses@vmlins.org or rduvall@vmlins.org with the LODA application; or
- Via fax to: 1 (800) 273-4865 with LODA application, attention Robin Duvall.
With all of the above options an acknowledgement of the claim, including the name of the claim representative assigned and the claim number, will be e-mailed to the VMLIP claims contact for each member.
