Staff deliver OSHA training throughout the Commonwealth

Need OSHA training for you and your staff? VRSA has you covered for FREE.

Over the past year, our safety consultants have provided nearly a dozen OSHA training sessions with 68 member entities represented. In total, 267 member employees received this important training.

Staff provide both OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 training, both designed to train employees how to identify hazards in the workplace.

Safety Consultant Christine Gillison provides OSHA training at the Upper Occoquan Service Authority. Members from the Town of Vienna, the Cities of Manassas and Manassa Parks, NOVA Parks, and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation (OmniRide).

OSHA-10 training focuses on hazards encountered easily, including walking/working surfaces, handling hazardous chemicals, electric safety, personal protective gear, confined space entry, and more.

However, the OSHA-30 course is designed for supervisors and those with safety responsibilities in their jobs, and delves more deeply into OSHA standards.

“Many of our members have expressed a need for OSHA training,” said VRSA Director of Education and Training Thomas Bullock. “We have worked to increase the number of OSHA trainings we organize each year and to make sure to invite neighboring members to attend when we put one together in their area.”

While regional training doesn’t replace individual training for members, available upon request, it does allow more members to receive training when only a few staff are in need.
