Leveraging Technology for Total Worker Safety

As technology evolves, so should our risk management programs. The view of protecting workers is not solely centered on the workplace. In 2014, there were 4,005 people killed at work, while that same year, almost 48,000 people were hospitalized in a TV set-related incident (EHS Today).

Why are people being hurt nearly 10 times more at home than in the workplace? Employees who practice safety in their homes are more likely to do the same at work. New trends in technology are allowing us a unique opportunity to promote and motivate employees to not only be safe at home, but to be safe at work. These trends include physical safety and health as well as mental health. Let’s take some time to understand that technology is growing, and we can all leverage it to grow our Risk Management Program!
