Introducing Workers’ Compensation Plus

The Virginia Risk Sharing Association (VRSA) is proud to announce a new coverage option for members purchasing workers’ compensation coverage.

Workers’ Compensation Plus will provide coverage for expenses not covered under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act. Through this coverage, not only will VRSA reimburse those additional expenses, but the cost of non-compensable or exposure-only bloodborne pathogen testing will also be covered.

“Our goal is always to meet our members’ needs as long as it is not unfair to the collective membership,” said VRSA Managing Director Marcus Hensel. “This coverage part was created as a result of viewing our claims history and simply doing the right thing. ”

Workers’ Compensation plus will provide reimbursement for:

  • Costs associated with adapting the home for injured workers over the amount provided by the Act;
  • Counseling services for immediate family members or co-workers affected by a work-related death or catastrophic work-related incident;
  • Expenses incurred by a primary caregiver during an employee’s inpatient stay;
  • Personal belongings – such as eyeglasses, jewelry, or clothing damaged because of a compensable claim; and
  • Expenses for testing for non-compensable bloodborne pathogen exposures.
