This quarter, VRSA recognizes the Town of Woodstock as one of more than 100 members to make the Gold Star List. The list is published each quarter to recognize members who have reported their workers’ compensation claims within three days of injury.
“We take safety very seriously in the Town of Woodstock,” says Woodstock Deputy Town Manager Michelle Bixler. “So the Gold Star award is indicative of all the work that our employees put into keeping each other safe, keeping themselves safe, and making sure that we are taking care of each other.”
Reporting injuries promptly helps make things go right not only for members but for everyone involved in the claim. For the injured employee, it results in quicker access to treatment. For the member, it results in treated employees returning to work more quickly increasing productivity and morale in the workplace. For VRSA, it allows our claims staff to establish communication with the injured employee quickly, assuring them that we are aware of their injury and ensuring they receive care.
“I’m appreciative of VRSA for supporting us, the Town of Woodstock, and also for recognizing when our employees are doing things in an appropriate manner that is not just good for the organization but good for them as individuals.”
Late reporting is a major cost driver in workers’ compensation claims. Timely reporting not only keeps costs under control but also helps injured employees begin their recovery process sooner.
