Last fall the Town of Middleburg once again hosted the 1000 Miglia Warm-Up USA event. The 1000 Miglia, called “the most beautiful race in the world,” has taken place throughout Italy for nearly 100 years.
The warm-up event provides an opportunity for top finishers to compete in the Italian Miglia next year. The Town of Middleburg has previously hosted the Warm-Up USA event in 2019 and 2022.
Hosting an event such as this brings significant logistical challenges – one of which includes securing insurance placements for the event.
That’s where VRSA came in.
While the Town of Middleburg is fully covered through VRSA, as a co-partner for the event, the town requested our assistance in placing coverage for race organizers – a particular challenge as the 1000 Miglia is an Italian company.
VRSA staff worked with our broker, Lockton, throughout the fall to place general liability to protect organizers from unforeseen events that could happen during the event. This is another example of how VRSA is here to protect our members and their communities.
“It originally started as a speed race but now it’s a regulatory race which means you aren’t speeding through the streets, you have time controls, and you have other things,” said Middleburg Town Manager Danny Davis. “The real joy is the vintage and classic cars participating, incredible sports cars in beautiful Middleburg where we get to celebrate the beauty of motorsports.”
