Prepare now for 2025 the hurricane season

June 1 marked the beginning of hurricane season, which runs through the end of November.  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)  predicts an above-normal season this year, with 13 to 19 named storms forecasted.

VRSA has developed two documents to assist members in developing hurricane preparedness plans.

  • Hurricane Preparedness: A general guide providing tips for what to do before, during, and after a hurricane.
  • Hurricane Preparedness Self-Assessment Tool: A 12-page document providing everything you need to set up a hurricane preparedness plan for your entity. It will help you assess your strengths and weaknesses, and above all else, be prepared.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has also developed a Hurricane Preparedness – Inland Impacts Guide in addition to many resources available on their hurricane threat page.
