King William County Public Schools uses VRSA Risk Management Grant for fencing

To ensure safe water for students at the King William County primary, elementary, and middle schools, the school division utilizes several large water tanks located behind their facilities. Being adjacent to a playground, however, has made the tanks an “attractive nuisance” for kids wanting to play around them during recess.

The division applied for and received a VRSA Risk Management Grant to build a fence around the tanks to address this hazard.

“The water tanks are really close to our playground,” said Staci Longest, director of finance with the school division. “Fencing in the water tanks would keep our water safe but also keep it safe for the community.”
