Getting your drone program off the ground

Thinking of utilizing a drone in your entity? Drones are a great way to help accomplish your goals and minimize risks to staff.

VRSA Safety Specialist Eddie Shelton, one of several VRSA staff holding an Unmanned Aerial Systems operator license, says there are many uses for these drones – and also many considerations.

“We’ve had a lot of members purchasing and utilizing drones,” said Shelton. “What we see them using them for is a wide variety of things, like police and fire locating a person, locating a hotspot for fires, documenting festivals and parades, as well as inspections on their buildings, water towers, and roof inspections.”

Shelton says avoiding putting employees in harmful situations by using drones makes jobs safer for all employees. However, there are many things you need to know before beginning a drone program in your entity. Learn more about how to get your program off the ground in the video below!
