Use of Force Management – Falls Church

VRSA provided Use of Force Assessment and Risk Management training in the City of Falls Church. This course focuses on use of force assessment and risk management by instructors and supervisors. The design of this course improves instructor and supervisor risk management against failing to train and supervise in both the training and field environments and provides the basis for evaluating force incident risk in criminal/civil for incidents as well as employment, decision-making, and stress management.

Virginia Public Risk Management Association (VA PRIMA) Cold Topic

VRSA Director of Property & Liability Claims Tracey Dunlap and Claims Supervisor Ryan Berberich discussed public entity liability claim trends in Virginia at the VA PRIMA Cold Topic discussion in Charlottesville.

Council Retreat – Town of Hamilton

Local Government Specialist Peter Stephenson facilitated a council retreat for the Town of Hamilton, where short and long-term goals were discussed, including improved pedestrian access and sidewalks, and the construction of a community center. More about this retreat was featured in Loudoun Now.

Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority

Senior Safety Consultant Fonda Craig and Safety Consultant Christine Gillison conducted an OSHA 10 General Industry course for Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority.  Thanks to Katherine Melton for organizing the session and to all who attended and participated in this important training.

City of Harrisonburg

Senior Safety Consultant Fonda Craig and Safety Consultant Christine Gillison conducted an OSHA-30 General Industry training in the City of Harrisonburg. Thanks to Dishon Thomas and Jeremy Schley from the Town of Vienna for coming out to help teach Electrical Hazards and Personal Protective Equipment sections of this event. The nationally recognized OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Course is designed to promote workplace safety and health. VRSA offers Authorized Outreach Instructors to facilitate this course.

Council Retreat – City of Staunton

Local Government Specialist Peter Stephenson and Director of Education and Training Thomas Bullock facilitated a two-day retreat for council members in the City of Staunton. The session provided council members an opportunity to review goals and priorities, learn more about each other, and reaffirm the city’s vision and values.
