SUMMARY:Before You Use It\, Inspect It: Applying GOAL to Tools and Equipment
DESCRIPTION:To view a recording of this presentation\, please click here. \nEmployees work with a wide range of hand tools\, power tools\, and equipment every day\, from maintenance crews\, utilities\, water/wastewater\, to parks and public works. While these tools are essential to getting the job done\, they also present serious risks when not inspected or used correctly. \nThis virtual session will teach employees how to apply the simple yet powerful safety practice of GOAL — Get Out and Look — to tool and equipment use. By integrating GOAL into daily habits\, workers reduce the likelihood of accidents that result in Workers’ Compensation claims and employer liability\, which can be costly for both employees and public entities.

SUMMARY:Playground Safety and Maintenance Training (Glen Allen)
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, more than 200\,000 children are seen at emergency rooms for injuries associated with playground equipment. While the only legal requirements placed on playgrounds involve the Americans with Disabilities Act\, there are recommended actions to establish an organization’s “Standard of Care\,” established by the Consumer Product Safety Commission as well as various American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. \nThis training will provide information on these requirements\, so you can ensure your entity’s playgrounds are properly audited\, maintained\, and inspected. Proper management can help in preventing accidental injury.
