AlexRenew’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karen Pallansch has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2016 Water Environment Federation (WEF) Fellows designation, recognizing her professional achievements and stature.

Pallansch, member and past-chair of the VML Insurance Programs’ (VMLIP) Members’ Supervisory Board, has served AlexRenew for more than 20 years and has held her current position as CEO since October 2005.

“WEF Fellows have made significant professional accomplishments and contributions toward preserving and enhancing the global water environment,” said WEF Executive Director Eileen O’Neill. “The Federation is pleased to recognize these outstanding professionals for the substance of their impact on clean water.”

Pallansch’s passion for public stewardship is well known, as is her creative and collaborative problem-solving spirit. She consistently uses innovative solutions to clean water in ways that provide multiple benefits to the community, while also managing public resources efficiently. She is helping the City of Alexandria become a leader in sustainability through cutting-edge water resource recovery practices, which both clean water and extract valuable nutrients and energy that are reused.

Pallansch has helped AlexRenew become an early adopter of more than just innovative technology and sustainability. She is also dedicated to sharing their mission and passion with the public, as well as mentoring and training a future generation of wastewater professionals.

Pallansch, along with 14 others, will be recognized during WEFTEC® 2016, WEF’s 89th annual technical exhibition and conference.

Her volunteerism touches local, regional, and national organizations that benefit the Alexandria community and the water profession.
